It is orange colored, round small cup like dip stick, secured with a safety lock on it. When you push the stick inside it will sit in place firmly with a click sound. Reinsert the stick and check the level according to the marking,same as an oil level marking. If there isn't one,a shop has to check it but I don't believe that method started until well after your year model. It his burnt and there is metal in it is what one guy told me.

When adding fluid,you can turn off the car but you will need to add little by little,doing 3 or 4 readings,being careful not to overfill. Life just keeps getting better and better. . Manual transmission do not have any electrical controls and only thing that can result in them going bad would be lack of lubricants, usually when trans oil leaks and trans runs dry. I would prefer to have transmission rebuilt rather than have a used one but if you are going to replace the trans every 2 years, something must be wrong.
